Highlights from our Last 4 Pop-Ups from the 2015/2016 School Year

This school year, we hosted a record breaking 23 pop-up boutiques and donated 3,524 articles of our clothing to 541 girls! It was a great year filled with many memorable moments, and we look forward to starting again in September.

May 18, 2016: Rowe Middle School

Nine volunteers from Ready Pretty and EDrop-Off helped set the stage for a fantastic afternoon of fashion fun at Rowe. With the clever, fashion expertise of our stylist, all the girls were able to leave with some chic new outfits. We had 19 girls come to our pop-up and leave with 181 new articles of our donated clothing! The girls are invited to our event as a reward for accomplishing a goal, so it's always wonderful to hear that they had a good time. We love it when students, like 6th grader Iris says, "I feel like I got to express myself through clothing, and I was rewarded for all of my hard work!

May 25, 2016: Fort Dearborn Elementary School

At Fort Dearborn we had 20 girls join us at the boutique, resulting in a splendid day of shopping fun. Not only did we have awesome volunteers (including blogger and MFO jr. board member, Caitlin Lee) come out and assist us with the day, but we also received a little muscle assistance from the young Dearborn gentlemen who helped us carry in some clothes. After we set up, the girls arrived ready and eager to shop 'til they dropped! 107 of our donated shirts were given to some enthusiastic ladies. Needless to say, it was a great pop-up all around.

June 10, 2016: Woodlawn Elementary Community School

When asked what her favorite thing about the pop-up was, 4th grader Aniyah said, "Getting all of these cool clothes and getting to express myself through fashion!" The goal at our pop-ups is to have every girl leave with a new outfit along with a new sense of confidence. We love hearing that our girls felt they were free to wear what they pleased and express themselves how they wanted to. 206 articles of our donated clothing were given to 25 very excited young ladies. The girls were having so much fun, they kept asking if we would be back again the next day!

June 15, 2016: LEARN Herro Family Campus-EXCEL

Last but not least, our final pop-up of the year was with the gorgeous young ladies from LEARN. Despite spending most of the morning playing outside in the sun, these girls strutted their stuff and brought a ton of energy with them to the pop-up! We had 5 fantastic volunteers join us from Groupon, helping us donate 192 articles of clothing to 30 very happy 6th graders! It is heartwarming to see the girls transformation throughout a pop-up. While many of them are a little apprehensive or nervous at first, by the end of the boutique every girl leaves with a smile on her face. The LEARN girls were no exception. They left beaming and saying they were excited for the next pop-up.
