Woodlawn Elementary Community School

Last Friday, My Favorite Outfit made a special visit to Woodlawn Elementary Community School. We had the opportunity to work with 12 amazing, bright and energetic students and teach them about the importance of self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-respect. The girls worked one-on-one with their volunteer stylists who guided them through each activity and helped them choose an outfit that best described their style.

At the beginning of the workshop, the students participated in small group activities which allowed them to understand the true meaning behind a positive self-esteem. Together as a team they were asked questions such as, “ what does a healthy self-esteem look like to you” and
“what do your facial expressions, body language, and personal style say about yourself.” These questions challenged the girls to think about their answers which in turn allowed them to learn more about themselves.

The girls personalities definitely sparked as they made their way through the runway with their new outfits! Following the beat of the song, the girls smiled laughed and posed to get their pictures taken. It was a great workshop, one that we will always remember!

We want to give a special thanks to our amazing volunteers who guided the students throughout the workshop! Caitlin Lee and her mom Michelle, Kate Turckan and Maggie Schurr, and Debbie Kahn and her amazing intern Taylor Wold.
